doing 135 on freeway, then...
I get a strong hesitation at around 140, like fuel cut or something. The boost sensor is grounded to bypass fuel cut tho. also Pressure sensor is grounded. I have 88 tii, 2.5" exhuast up to muff, no EGR and other smog shit, home depot boost gauge (goes up to 100 psi just in case). is this some type of speed governor?

1. if disabling your boost sensor does work as an fcd, then it would mean your ecu is not gettin a boost signal, so its not adding fuel or retarding timing to compensate. that means you have a very good chance of blowing your engine. and what you experienced could have been detonation, but usually you hear detonation more than you feel it. at least for me. if your boost sensor is disabled, your engine probbably wont last very long.
2. you probbably hit fuel cut becuase of boost creep. i have an 87 t2 with the intake/TID mod and 3" DP/MP. i will hit fuel cut in the top of 3rd and 4th. with my mods the car SHOULD be hitting fuel cut in 1st and 2nd, but the turbo is 15 years old and just cant keep up with the times. but if pushed hard enough it spews out enough boost to hit fuel cut. |

I thought boost sensor sensed boost and pressure sensor sensed pressure. :D But seriously, I thought both turbo and NA had a "pressure sensor" which checked atmospheric conditions, while the "boost sensor" sensed internal engine pressure. I could also be confused though

well, on both cars, they called it the pressure sensor, sine boost is really pressure anyway. There is an atmospheric pressure sensor on all of them, built into the ECU, though the pressure sensor that senses boost/vacuum is called the pressure sensor on both the T2's and NA's, the FSM states as such anyway.

ahhh... thanks for clearing that up. I assumed the "boost sensor" just sensed pressure over atmospheric (hence boost) and the other sensed outside. I've never needed to look around for what I called the pressure sensor, and from the sounds of it, I probably wouldn't have found it.
