Do you think I can spool this?

Recently I picked up a big rig diesel turbo off of ebay. It is definatly a monster. Specs are: 1.32 a/r hotside, .75 a/r compressor side with a divided t6 flange. The compressor blade measures 75mm minor diameter and 101mm major diameter. My question is do you think I could get this thing to spool before 6-7 grand on a half bridge?

Aaron Cake 04-04-06 09:30 AM

Nice. And yes. :) Half bridge will spool nearly anything.

red_ricer 04-04-06 09:48 AM

Thats good to hear. What kind of lag should I expect from this? Also I really do not feel like fabbing up a t6 exhaust manifold. I have done some searching for one but I am not coming up with much at all. Are there any places that make an exhaust manifold with a t6 flange for the Rex?

I demand pics!

J-Rat 04-04-06 10:23 AM

Exhaust A/R seems a bit low but it shouldb help spool! Rotaries seem to like .96 -1.00 hotsides.

Aaron Cake 04-04-06 10:24 AM

My best guess would be full boost by 5K.

Not sure about the manifold...I've never looked.

1.32 seems a bit low? That's freakin HUGE man...

As for the manifold, best bet is to find a T6 flange off a diesel truck and weld it to your own manifold... Might have to relocate it forward a bit to make room...

I read it backwards... DOH!! I thought the 1.34 was cold side and .73 was hot site. Muh bad!!

This thread is useless without pics. :P

RylAssassin 04-04-06 12:14 PM

My god
Id like to see the manifold for that beast

Carzy Driver 04-04-06 12:19 PM

I'd like to see that turbo..

snowball 04-04-06 12:22 PM

my 1.15 hotside is as big as i would ever go. that 1.32 is huge
best of luck

^^^what kind of lag do you have with your turbo? I will try and post pics of it soon. The compressor side needs to be cleaned up. It has several years of oxidization but otherwise there is no shaft play at all! It is a really huge turbo.

Bukwild 04-04-06 01:42 PM

1.32 with stock ports???? No way. I have been in a car with stock ports on a t04 1.15 and full boost was not until 5500-6000. Just buy a new backside from precisionturbo.net
they are only $150 bucks. If you have stock ports get a .81 backside undivided or .84 divided and you will love it. Afew guys on this forum have already hit over 550rwhp with a undivided .81 so I don't want to hear a bunch of bullshit posts saying .81 is to small. Remember only believe half of what you hear on this forum because half the people who post on this forum don't even have rx7 turbos.

Seems like at least one person on the forum can't read... He's running a half-bridge... ;)

fcdrifter13 04-04-06 02:55 PM

Ill be the only one here that will say its small I can almost say that 100% sure.

Turblown 04-04-06 02:58 PM

You guys are comparing t4 turbine a/rs to a T6 turbine a/rs. No where near the same thing.

Below is a link to a picture of a T6 turbine a/r with a 1.32.
I sell a manifold that will fit that turbo for an FC motor.

I have not run that large of a hotside, as thats something in the neighborhood for a half bridge 30+psi.

However I don't agree with the posted statements at all. I just did an FC in the shop with a t4 P trim 1.32, 1 bar of boost by 4k rpms; 27psi shortly after...
Tuning/Engine/Building/Turbo manifold etc all affect spool time...

Bukwild 04-04-06 02:59 PM

correction - he will be running a half-bridge.

as is everything on this forum, what someone plans on running and if thet ever do it is about 90 - 10

even on a halfbridge I would not run it. AUS guys run this backside on some of there crazy drag cars.

Turblown 04-05-06 04:03 PM

Just let us know how it goes...

Holy shit...

gxl90rx7 06-24-06 12:22 PM

holy crap, you'll have to make some 6" to 3" adapters for teh exhaust and intake

RETed 06-24-06 12:30 PM

Those compressor wheel specs are very close to a T-76 sized turbo.
Even with the bridge, I don't think it'll spool on anything you're trying to street.
