Do you need S5 front fenders for S5 sideskirts?

Simple question. Do you need the S5 front fenders for the OEM sideskirts? I'm doing a S5 body conversion on my S4 and picked up some sideskirts. Test fitted the front piece but it doesn't seem to sit flush? The only thing I noticed that were different with the S5 were the notches.

no.

s5 front bumper will fit better with s5 fenders, but you can mod s4s.

the plastic could be old and warped. I had s5 skirts on my s4 t2. fit just fine.

What do you mean mod the s4 fenders? Can you please elaborate?

the only real difference between the S5 TURBO fender and the S5 NA fender are the two holes in the front edge for the moulding clips.

between an S5 NA fender and the S4 the difference is the holes for the rear moulding. so somehow you need to drill square holes in the fenders, or not use mounting clips on the mouldings...

yeah my s5 front bumper doesnt line up well with my s4 fenders...id like to have someone explain how to "mod" the s4 fenders

As far as the front bumper is concerned, the only difference I noticed is that the S4 bumper has a strip of rubber/plastic around it that is absent on the s5 bumper. Perhaps the s4 trim is a slightly different shape to accommodate this, but I didn't have a problem putting an s5 bumper and s5 trim on my s4 fenders.

i just need to break down and invest in s5 trim when i get the extra cash, i also noticed when i was installing my s5 i had to pull out the front brake vents so the s5 would line up flush

Old thread, but its mine and didn't want to start a new one since its the same topic. That's a noob move.

Anyway. This is what I was talking about. Am I doing something wrong? I have it up against an S4 fender (not mine). Its sitting flush against the fender where the trim panel is supposed to go. A look at the front shows where the stock holes are and there doesn't seem to be "enough fender". What am I doing wrong? The actual long side skirt piece is not issue.

Hmmm, interesting. I had an S4 fender that I replaced on my old S5 N/A and there were no issues. I have an S4 donor fender for my TII, but I haven't tried to test fit a side skirt yet. They look exactly the same to me.

I don't know what's going on there gunner?

There is no difference in regards to bumper mounting from s4 to s5. I think people who swap don't realize the little rubber gasket makes the s4 Seem to fit tighter but that has nothing at all to do with the fender series.

Yeah. I have no clue what's going on either. I don't know anyone around close by that drives an s5 either. This is why I was getting thrown off when you guy were saying it should fit without issues.

Should I keep a lookout for new fenders?:lol::lol:

Rob XX 7 02-19-12 09:08 PM

Stupid question but they aren't fiberglass are they? (fenders)

younG_Gunner 02-19-12 10:41 PM

I don't believe so.

Still haven't been able to figure this one out.

Dont know why i never realized it before, but you need to disregard the holes in the skirts in relation to the fenders. Mount them without or drill new holes. I have mine without using the holes. Havent seen the car in a few months i have it stashed in a garage so i cant take a pic but i do remember im not using the holes

So did you end up cutting up the front sideskirt?

I found this online. Someone modified the S5 side skirts to fit their S4. Looks like they cut off the mold piece.
