Do YOU hold boost to redline?
Just wondering how many people do...This 89 T2 cant seem to do it :( Any ideas why? I was thinking a weak wastegate or something...I guess a leak somewhere in the intake tract could cause it, but i really doubt that. So what can be done to remedy this?
Thanks |
Mine does now, but it wouldn't with a stock turbo.

Whats your exhaust and intake set-up? TID and open exhaust made my boost go up near redline on my S4. Maybe it was all the hot air from overworked turbo though, he he

I am also unable to hold max boost up to -or near- redline...:(
The best I can do is slowly build boost until it hits 420-430mmHg up to 4K-4.5K rpm (thats about 8.5-8.6 psi), then just see my boost fall to 300mmHg as I reach redline... If I just WOT from the word "Go", I hit max boost instantly, but then the boost bleeding is much more evident....and "painful" :D. Of course the situation was vastly worse before my new catback....and I suppose it will be even better after TID/DP... |

This is for ACE, hey, what kind of exhaust do you have, is it stock and do you have cats?
Thanks |

Not for long though (at least the pre-cat...) ;) Also the main cat is a bit "lighter" and more "free flowing", cause there are big bits missing :D The car is still 100% legal though... The way I figure it, even if DP gives me 1psi, and the TID another 1psi (absolute minimum values), I'll be looking at 10-10,5psi easily  Got to watch out for that fuel now....;) |

TID mod helped me in upper rpms alot. Turbo doesn't have to try hard to draw the air in through the convoluted s curve intake. If that doesn't help, check the exhaust turbine for damage? I don't know on S5. Mine was S4 and crept at high rpm. Stock boost levels dropping off? or a boost level raised w/ aftermarket boost controler?

it's common with stock turbo. mine will hold 8psi at redline now with the TID and intake though.
