do you have to take off the flywheel to pull the pilot bearing??
 
ive never changed mine but after reading what a bad pilot bearing can do and the symptoms , im experiancing some of them. i have a pilot bearing ready to go . i did the clutch no to long ago , but i forgot if i have to take off the flywheel to pull and install the bearing

No...But you do need a removal tool (puller) that fits the outer bearing race correctly. It ain't no fun chiseling them out, trust me...

the easiest and cheapest tool is a gm lifter puller from carquest. Not exactly like a rx-7 puller and takes longer, however, its cheaper and works! - just wear HD gloves so you dont pinch your hand - it will take 40+ strikes.
