Well, that's just because they're such great cars. I .. erm, yea, I've had 3. :-/ 1 runs. One was without an engine though when I got it, and it was just a parts car, and had tires on it worth more than I paid for it, so...

Basically, it comes down to this:

If you want a car that you can get in and drive, and never have to think about, and just slosh gas in every now and then, and change the oil when you get around to it, don't get a '7. They're not a Honda or a Toyota, thank goodness.

If you're willing to put the work into fixing things that are as old as most of the people on this forum, and spend the money to replace things like the pulsation damper, coolant lines, neglected engine, and other scattered things, they are VERY reliable cars. Show me another car that can drive you home across the country after a major internal engine failure. There are a lot of people who have done just that here.

If you fix the stuff that's broken/neglected, and keep up on maintenance, they're great cars. They just don't tolerate neglect. It's better to treat them like an airplane, and replace things at given intervals regardless of the apparent condition.

*shrug* They're not cars for everyone. I'll be the first to admit that. And they're not the cheapest way to get around, by far. But they're not as bad as most people make them out to be.

i drove pizza delivery for 12 years in sevens, lost two to car wrecks, but now on my third one, but the car are near bullet proof, drove over 1000 miles a week for most of that time, and yes i had problems but nothing you wounld expect with doing such heavy driving and also had more fun out driving the yotas and hondas, and in some cases had a more reliable car then they did. go buy haynes and find the fsm and 10,12,14 socket and a phillps head screwdriver and you will be able to fix 80% of things on the car
