Do I have to buy the Pre-silencer or can i go custom?m/w
I have a 87 TII and im redueing the exhaust. I am going to remove the cats and put in a down pipe. Im going to make the most of the exhaust and aiming to be cheap. My question is that i want a 3inch down pipe and i have found two. The RX7 store has one for $90.00 (thats cheap) and mazdatrix has one for $125. Now they both say they require the pre-silencer, which are quite spendy and sold seperetly. If i wanted couldnt I just buy the downpipe by itself and have a flange welded to a pipe that can bolt to the back of that downpipe? Then i would have the rest of the exhaust bolted to the other side of that pipe. The rest of my exhaust will be custom built by a friend (local muffler shop).

Yes, you could do it that way, but be prepared for a pretty raw sounding exhaust note... probably similar to a chainsaw, and louder than you'd like. If that doesn't seem so bad, hey, go for it :) Else, get some kind of presilencer in, or run it through a muffler before your main mufflers, thats actually what I plan on doing.

custom, is the cheapest and fastest way (no ordering or waiting for shipping).
