Difficult installation? eeeek just spent over 6k in 2 weeks!
 

Wassup yall... like the title says, i just bought a stage 3 street port engine from rotorsportsracing.com and it came with a act stage 2 clutch... I just purchased last week a full exaust from the headers back.. a Racing beat header, RB presilencer, and an apexi n1 dual catback. I bought some eibach lowering springs, as well as some rota slipstreams 17" in gunmetal (my car is pearl gray with white flake). So i bought this engine and my intentions is to install it myself. Now i have done a few swaps in the past actually, one was a honda crx, same engine, was pretty easy.. the next swap was a little more difficult.. we took an eagle talon DL and smashed a Talon Tsi engine into it.. that was a little more challenging, but was still as of ease at the same time (due to the owner of the car having much knowledge with electronics, so he did all the wiring).

Now my question is, how difficult will it be to install this engine (13b N/A) into my 1988 RX7 SE? I feel pretty confident, as i have all the tools necessary, as well as hydraulic lifts, etc... The only concern i really have is with the clutch. I've never dealt with clutches before, and have never replaced one. What can go wrong and how can i make the installation trouble free (hopefully)??

My next intentions to mod this car (when my bank account replenishes) is to put a FPR and new fuel pump as well as an air to fuel ratio guage, and then some minor suspension work..

Any thoughts?? opinions??

It should be plug and play since it is an N/a going into an N/a and even a 13BT should not be too much trouble since they are bolt in. I have only pulled one engine out of my parts car but it seemed fairly simple.

If the engine and the car are of the same series, you should have no problems. Since you'll already have the engine out, the clutch shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Yes, i did, i apologize for not responding.. as you can see i decided to just go ahead and get some rota's.. i needed something a little more lightweight.. It really sucks, i only get to access a computer pretty rarely because of my work schedule... i finally got 2 days off of work.. i just worked 2 1/2 weeks straight, no days off..

You wont have any need for a bigger fuel pump on an n/a. The stock fuel system is good for around 240-250hp. Spend your money on something else.

the clutch should be already installed on the engine when you get it, and it is kinda a pain to get the input shaft of the tranny to line up with the clutch but i found the slowing turning the the front pully and using a huge wooden plank to pry the engine in again the front subframe is the easist, my dads cherry picker didn't have a long enough arm the frame was hitting the the front bumper not allowing the engine to go all the way on the input shaft...

Rotary engines are about the easiest I have seen to install because of their size. If you did a CRX you can easily do a rotary. Front wheel drives are a nightmare compared to RX-7s.

Does anyone know what all i will have to take off of my old engine and put on the new one??

Also do act clutches come with pilot bearing etc.. ??
