Differential compatibility questions?

Hi i know this has probbaly been asked a few times but when i search this up i got alot of conflicting and confusing info. I am using this site right now for alot of my info and here is the dilemma. Differential Interchanges

I have a 88 s4 gxl. It has the factory clutch type lsd that i have shimmed the crap out of. This car is my primary drift missile. I would like to have a spare diff just incase i happen to break mine at the track and need a spare. I dont make alot of power guys maybe 260whp and im not dropping a ton of money for a brand new drop in lsd. All i want is a open diff that i can weld up as a spare.

I need to know if all the n/a open diffs are a direct bolt on (same pinion flange, stub halfsahfts etc to my current setup? From what im putting together online on mazda trix is saying that all the non turbo ones are direct swap in. But it doesnt mention if there is any different between the non turbo lsd and open diff types. I know the turbo version needs the pinion swaped and the halfshafts but what about the others?

Thank you guys!
