Different engines?

I'm looking for some engine that i can swap in my 87 n/a. This subject has been beaten to death about upgrading to a turbo 13b. I'd like to go a step further. Will any other engines bolt in? Will the FD3s engine work in my car? Exactly how difficult would it be to fit a 20b? What sort of money am i looking at?
Thanks
-Ross

Aight, it is called retrofitting a 20b....meaning there is A LOT of stuff that you need to change around. A 13b-rew might not be as hard though I think you might need to change mounts and stuff and maybe get a bigger hood cause those throttle bodies are rather large. I would do just what I plan on doing...go with a rebuild and get a streetport. With a high flow exaust and some other minor mods you will be pushing somewhere around 190 at the flywheel. Have fun and remember, power costs MONEY

Yeah gefunk, i know :) but i love power... i'm thinking of going supercharged, but no good kits are available for FI... only carbed... and i can't do that for emissions reasons

Yeah that is cool, There is a Paxton one that you need to retrofit a new definitely custom throttle body with that I have seen.....I will go look it up...maybe it was another company..I will try and find it for you. Supercharges aren't my thing since I drift and more weight means more headace for me. I will try and find that site when I get a chance.

You can do a big street port on an N/A if you like power, then get everything else done too... like exhaust, intake, fuel tuning, the works!
You can easily push well over 200 at the flywheel on an s5,
and you can get your N/A running in the 14's for fun.
(Never seen 13's on a regular street ported N/A though- but I'm sure it can be done with a fully tuned and managed engine and a totally stripped car)

Big porting is another story, but damn, a turbo is so much more streetable, and QUIET!!!

The thing is- with an N/A with this much power, it's all top end, it's kindof loud (though kindof nice with the right exhaust setup), and you WILL want more!!!!

Thats my problem... I dumped all this money into my car, with the goal of being the most powerfull (not fastest- my car's a tank) street port N/A possible.... WHY??
Now I'm getting a turbo and I seriously regret not just getting a whole TII drivetrain and engine... I'm stuck with a wimpy tranny and 9.7:1 high compression rotors! I kindof backed into a corner, cause I'm a little limited with boost because of it.

Bottom line- if you want speed, don't just massage the N/A. You get get nice power, but you'll ALWAYS want more!!

If you are going the 2 rotor turbo route and want big power, I would suggest finding an FD engine that needs a rebuild and doesn't have the turbochargers. It will be able to handle more power than the FC 13B's. I would definantely try that out before jumping right into a frickin' 3-rotor.

What about a smallblo.... never mind *kicks himself* hehe... i'm just investigating creative options for an engine swap. Under no circumstance will i consider anything that isnt rotary :) The 3 rotor is, obviously, quite the big upgrade. i wonder how hard it would be to cut the clip off a FD3s and weld it onto an FC :) :) :) :) :) :)
