Difference between throttle bodies?

Is there a difference between the S4 TII and S5 TII throttle bodies? Aside from the TPS difference. Are mounting points for the TPS the same? I'm using an S5 TPS with my haltech, rewired, and I can get a S4 TII throttle body.

Would it work?

My S5 TII throttle body is messed up.

Thanks,
James

Anyone know? I hate to kick it back up, but it was on to the 2nd page already.

Thanks,
James

Don't know man... But, I'm pretty sure the mounting points are different between the two. Even if I'm wrong... atleast you are at the top now. :)

I don't know about the TII, but I know they are different on the NA. The problem isn't so much that the mounting mount is different (which I think it is) but that the throttle body linkage that operates the TPS is different. The s4 TPS has 1 plunger while the S5 TPS has 2, so there has to be the extra part to operate the second plunger. I don't think there is a way around this.

Well, depending on whats messed up on your throttle body (you never really went into detail on that), you MIGHT be able to swap the primary throttle plates.. that would atleast get both plungers working.... but, like Sideways7 said.. the mount is different, so.... who knows. Search for pics of the TB's...

I know the S5 Throttle body uses Dual TPS, but I'm using a Haltech anyway and only need to use the wideband TPS from the S5 TII, so the dual plunger issue isn't really much of a problem.

And regarding my throttle body... it seems as if someone tried to take it apart and put it back together, and wound up bending different parts of the linkage, stops, fucking up some of the springs that wrap around the shaft and putting it back together incorrectly.

Thanks for the information so far guys, I'm gonna search for some pictures.

Haven't found any pictures that I can compare mine to, except for one where an owner called his a "weird JDM throttle body."

I've heard things like the S4 linkage rotates a different way and stuff like that. Bottom line on mine though, if I were to take the part the cable connects to and rotate it with my hand, the shaft doesn't move, so the throttle plates don't open.

Anyone care to throw out some pertinent information? This is probably one of the last things I need to figure out with the car, besides some possible haltech setting problems, which will go straight to the haltech section.

Help me out guys!

James
