Difference between intakes??

Hey what's the difference between this "performance intake" listed as $175.50 at Mazdatrix

and just a regular $40 cone filter that I see all over the forum with cold air boxes?

Thanks,

Justin

Is there any kind of performance difference? Or is it just more expensive?

i was thinking of getting a box out of a 4runner and putting it in my car...the box is pretty big and has a nice hole for the filter to go in. someone go check out the junkyard and confirm my idea. hehe

If you guys can wait a little while, Chris Sanders is fabbing a N/A CAI out of polished aluminum. He's working on two different designs, one that places the filter near the bottom of the radiator and one that places the filter completely out of the engine bay under the headlight. The second one mentioned would obviously be better, but not everybody is interested in cutting a hole in the metal behind the headlight to run the pipe, so he's designing them both to please everybody. I have no idea on price or production date, but I think it'll be worth waiting. I've been to his shop and have seen his polished aluminum TID's for turbo cars and they're really nice. If you have questions, pm me and I'll give you the contact information.

Tree,

The cold air box is very high quality. It can be painted to match the car.

Same with the OEM stamped headlight cover / airscoop.

They offer a good K&N intake plus another manufacturer I can't remember offhand.

It's just more expensive!
