Diesel Oil, perfect mix for oil change?
I was talking to a friend whose dad has raced and built cars for years. He said the best oil for an oil change would be diesel with a quart of synthetic mixed in. He said a quart of synthetic gives you 80% of the advantages with none of the drawbacks. I was wondering if I should take his advice and if anyone else on here has done this.

Did he race rotaries? Do not do that. Might be great for a couple laps around a race track, but for daily driving - I wouldn't attempt something so ridiculously unnecessary.
A good dino oil would be better than that and probably cheaper. |
He did it in his fd3s and said it worked great.

Next question I see from you will probably be: "Where's the best place to have my engine rebuilt?" I'm not saying your little trick won't work.. but I'm saying WHY? WHY would you do it? Cost? Performance? Emissions? or because some guy who races told you you could? |

Dumbest shit I've ever heard of... what are the supposed benefits of this? If he knew his shit he'd change the coolant frequently with something fancy and be mixing 2-stroke in with his gas. |
Just use Rotella T synthetic. I've been hearing about some oil formula changes in the last year and its been causing cams to grind themselves into hamburger. What guys are finding out is the Rotella formula didn't change because you don't mess with what works on trucks or the whole economy shuts down.

eneos RACING SPEC PRO-4T oil 10w 50 (commonly a motorcycle oil)
only thing i use in my car, if the japs built it, use their oil. not murrys brand oil, fine for a domestic, but thats exactly why- because its domestic! im shure other oil works fine, and is alot cheaper, im just supersticious like that.:dunno: |
