Dies when turning wheel, idles with or without bac plugged in

88 SE, often hard to start but easier cold. Once it does start it seems to go through regular warmup and will idle pretty steadily.
WIth or without BAC plugged in, it'll idle at like 900ish right now. When I turn the wheel, the bac seems to lag in its compensation for p/s but does eventually bring up the rpms back to idle. When I turn too hard, it doesn't get the chance.

I've read many other threads on this topic and many have said that idle is so low without the BAC, that once the BAC is connected, it has to work at 100% just to maintain idle, leaving no room to adjust for load.
This is NOT the case in my car. It idles fine with or without the BAC, and without the BAC it can't even survive a minor turn of the wheel.

So maybe the BAC is dirty? it is doing its job but just not well enough. things like lights and heater give no issues. Dont have a/c right now to test that. Releasing clutch makes idle drop a bit, sometimes killing it. Hard turn of wheel always kills it.

I plan to take out my BAC and inspect/clean it but was just wondering if there's anything else I should be checking for? Maybe the P/S pressure switch?

P.S. engine shakes a ton at lower than 900/1000 idle, sputters sometimes, was thinking to replace injectors/pump.

Did you find out what the problem was? I have the same problems with my rx7.
