died and... flooded?

If I should know this already I'm sorry (and still searching), but I picked up an S4 this past weekend. Today I was leaving my parents house, headed up a hill towards a red light. I downshifted to 2nd, and I believe when I clutched out to shift into neutral it died. I just looked up to see all my idiot lights on, figured I stalled it somehow, but it wouldn't start. I cranked it a bit, to no avail, so I jumped out and pulled the egi fuse, and cranked it a bit. At this point a very nice, very large man asked if I needed a push, so I had him push me to a downhill, and rolled into my work. When I put the fuse back in it cranked and fired. I didn't think to see if any black smoke came out, but it ran fine for me on the way to my place with my parents following me. Any suggestions on why it died, and why it wouldn't start back up?

maybe you just stalled.. and it flooded. plain and simple.

If I stalled though it's because it cut out, i was at 2k RPM in 2nd, and when i clutched out it just dropped right past idle. I did have it running in my parents driveway for a while in the rain with the hood up. I'm mostly just hoping for a bit of reassurance i suppose.

Edit: Also, the cover for that bank of fuses by the battery, was melted pretty good on one side. Just trying to get all the info I have.
