Did I mess up my timing???
 

ok, a quick question for you guys

if you turn the pully that is connected to the e-shaft all by itself when the motor is off, will that mess up the timing???

i know its a dumb Q but i dont know much about timing and how it works!

the reason i ask is that i just got done puting on full corksport exhaust, custom intake, ACV and air pump removal and block off plate, and the cold start block off plate. the car seems to be running rather rough now...

No, eshaft and rotors rotate with the pulley. Even if you unbolt the pulley, it only goes on one way since the holes are not symmetric.

The cone filter setup is probably what's making your car run rough. If the AFM doesn't sit exactly like the stock setup, you'll get some odd behavior.

interesting, so do you would say then that the best way to eliminate the AFM as the prob would be to make sure that it sits at the same angle as when it is in the stock positoin?

make sure the AFM is on an even angle,so the Flapper can open and close,Like a door....If it is "cock-eyed" then the Flapper will Be effected,and it will make car run Funny...

well, it is definetly perfectly level at the present time.

at the stock location it holds a slight downward angle, not flat..

i will see if that makes any difference

Gravity plays a big role with the flapper on S4 AFMs. Put the stock airbox in, run the car, and see if your problems goes away. If it does, you know where the problem is.

i have been doing a TON of reading and it would seem that my problem may have something to do with a vacuum leak. I need to check the block off plates taht i made.. i remember one of the bolts to the cold start assist plate being stripped a bit, so if that seems to be case, i will tap it and make sure there is lots of gasket maker on it and it is really tight. Other then that i need to check some of the vacuum lines on the back of the TB. I am not sure if they are all attached...

I noticed that when i unplug the TPS, the car really doesnt run any better or worse, this leads me to think that the TPS is no good, becuase adjusting it, does not change a thing.

I will also try to unplug the BAC and see what that does...

Any advise would be much appreciated...

I also noticed the "TICKING" sound that is coming from the TB by the BAC. It increases with the RPM's and so i will have to look into that... i was never able to get a good difiniative answer as to what that would be...

Adjusting the TPS blindly will make the car run rougher. Do a search regarding "setting the TPS" and makes sure it is set right.
