Did all S5 cars have the mounting points for sideskirts?
I have been wondering if all the s5 cars had the factory holes in the chassis and fenders for the OEM sideskirts/front lip? I am starting to get suspicious that my car was originally a turbo, can you tell on the title if it is turbo or not? I havent ever really looked..
Thanks for the help. |
My old N/A never had mounting holes for side skirts, so I would say no.

the VIN will tell you if it was turbo or not...JM1FC332 = turbo
|
My car has the grommeted holes (factory) for the sideskirts and also has the holes in the front fenders, as well as the holes under the front bumper..
The car also has the stock s5 T2 wheels.. My car was a little odd when i bought it in 2007 it had a 4 port Non turbo motor in it and was running a standalone ecu.. The car does have an N/A rear in it BUT was a roadrace car for a large portion of it's life so who knows how many engines have been in or out of this car.. The car was repainted to OEM quality and spec and had an N/A Steel hood on it. Would just like to know what I have.. Thanks 87 t66 I'll decode when i get home. |
Same mounting holes as for the side moldings. Other than that, I had to make my own on my S5 Vert
|
What size wheels does are listed as the stock size in the door? Any evidence of an ABS system?
My GTUs has the fender holes and mounts for skirts. |
JM1FC332 = turbo
JM1FC331 = na JM1FC35 = vert the turbo has different fenders, its got one extra hole on the back of the wheel well for the side skit. the turbo also has a different rocker panel, with a ton of holes for the side skirt. the turbo shell will also have the mounting for the ABS and an extra hole in the firewall. and a sunroof. |

If those are really FACTORY holes for the sideskirts then I believe you have a factory 91 Turbo. Welcome to the very, very rare club!! Took me 2 years to find one and you bought one without knowing it :O)
Thanks for the help, I guess I am just another guy that swapped in a turbo motor..ha! |

Those are NOT s5 T2 side skirt mounting points. They are so rare that few people actually know what they look like. The side skirt holes are above on the side of the vehicle rockers and not underneath the car. There are other mounting points that are easier to show with a picture.

I wish I took better pictures while painting and before installing the side skirts but this will have to do.
In the first picture you can see the row of holes on the rocker panels. Also on the picture but not visable is hole that is right below the trim moulding (not installed). It cant be seen because I have the clip in it while painting and it is now red, but it is there. On the second piture you can see how the front ot the side skirt wraps around to the fender and into the wheel well. I used black pop plastic rivits to fill those holes and fastend the side skirts into place. You can see the top fastener in this second pic. There is also a second fastener (and hole) lower down the skirt that can not be seen in this picture. The same mounting holes are on the rear end of the skirt wrapping into the rear wheel well. Hope this helps. |
i have pictures of a FC I painted in a shade of yellow so all the holes show up really good, will have to wait for the site to be back up
