desperate for help with getting power to ecu
So my 87 t2 will ot start becaust out of the blue the ecu/safc do not get power whe I turn the ignition. everything else clicks on with the ignition and the car cranks okay. But I get no spark,or fuel because the ecu sees no power.all the fuses are fine, the main relay gets its signal when I turn the key but does not send it back out the black and white wire to the ecu as it should. So I tried puttig power to the black and white wire(at the main relay) and the SAFC lights up and the relay(?) in front of the AIR filter clicks when I do this, but it will out help the car to spark or add fuel when I crank it this way. yesterday without any help when I turned the key the safc lit up and all seemed okay for about 2 seconds then it went out again. All the connectors seem tight too.
Any ideas? Please help! |
if you are getting power to the input of the relay. but not on the output. then I would probably replace it.

Does the Black/Green have 12c on it at the Main Relay? That's what I'd be looking for. Yeah, the MainRelay might be bad. It really depends on which Black/White wire you put power on. The black/white at Ba 05 or Ba 06??? But if you knew that you would not be writing this post/thead. Is the ENGINE fuse in and good, both????? How about that 40 amp fuse in the engine bay???? That one supplies the 12v to the coils etc. All of the above???????????????????????????????? |
I just re-read your post. It's the Black/Green that supplies power to the Black/Yellow wire WHEN the contacts in the MainRelay pull in .....IF the 40amp fuse is any good AND the contacts in the MAIN RELAY are good. I say the 40 amp fuse is kaput. There ain't no 12v at the Black/Green wire at the Main Relay.
EDIT: Naw. I changed my mind. It's the ENGINE fuse that is blown. Crew compartment fuse. |
