Depressurizing Fuel System

So today I was removing my secondary fuel rail, took of an injector and "whoosh" about 4oz of fuel came rushing out, I had to put the injector back in. Now before I removed any part of my engine I was going to depressurize my fuel system, however in my Haynes manual it says to start engine and put the fuel pump connector. That is all well and everything if you have a running engine, but I don't, it's blown. How the hell am I supposed to depressurize it now? Thanks in advance guys.

I guess you could try taking out the EGI fuse and cranking(like how you would to unflood the engine). Should get out any fuel I guess.

I'll try that, thanks.

Just turn on the car and then pull the EGI fues that should do it.

Well the system will depressurize on its own if let to sit. From your post it sounds like you already depressurized most of the system by taking off the injector. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but won't the egi fuse out will just stop the injectors from firing? I don't think it will stop the pump from pressurizing the system.

I really don't know, everyone tells me that fuel will spray everywhere when you change your fuel filter and on both FCs I've had it never did.

well when i changed my fuel filter i had about 12oz of fuel come out...good thing i was prepared w/ a gatorade bottle :)
but this was done after driving and only letting the car sit for about 1hr.
i've gotta pull my injectors as well. my car has been sitting for a month now so i guess it should be depressurized by now?

taking out the EGI fuse won't depressurize the system, what you can probably try is disconnect plug to fuel pump and crank, but i'd disconnect a hose somewhere and soak up the fuel with a rag rather than cranking to minimize any damage from a broken apex seal

take off your gas cap and stick a screw driver in for a second.

Thanks for the input fellas, I'll try all your ideas just to be certain.

Pulling the EGI fuse won't do crap. The fuel system won't be energized at all.

The only thing to do is to let engine run out.
If it doesn't run, just pull off a hose.. not that much fuel will come out. It's unavoidable.

guys,
it's simple - with engine running, reach under the steering column and unplug the fuel pump relay connector.
