I Have An '88 Normal Asperated 7 That Has Lost Compression And Has Been Sitting For Over A Year. I Am Getting Ready To Start Working On Getting It Back On The Road. Now Here Is Where I Am Having To Sratch My Head Atthe Fork Int The Road: Do I Have To Purchase A Turbo Motor Or Can I Just Rebuild The Motor That I Have, Replace The Intake Manifold, The Computer, And The Wiring Harness? Also I Was Wondering If I Should Sell My Coupe And Get A Convertible? It's Just Something About The Wind Hitting Your Scalp While You Are Driving. I Know That The Convertible Is Heavier Than The Coupe And You Cannot Drift Much With It But I Am Just Wondering. Need Advise.

You can turbo the N/A motor. There are several threads about the process and many people have been successful in their endeavors. I don't really know the costs associated with turboing the engine, but either way you'd have to do a rebuild. Even if you got a 13bt, you'd probably need to rebuild it as well. I think that a straight swap would be a little easier, but then again that's what I did and am familiar with.

There's a lot of welding and fabrication needed to get a turbo 6 port running. If you don't have much experience with this kind of thing or with 7s in general, I'd suggest dropping a 13bt in instead. You'll find lots of threads on both swaps.

A 6port turbo setup isn't that hard if you have a competant mechanic/tuner. You can make the lim yourself or buy one premade on here. PM me for help making your own I took plenty of pictures of the process.
