dechoke system?!

I had heard others alluding to some way the S5's can "unflood" themselves. And I recently came across this in my '90 workshop manual(Page FI-48):
"Dechoke system:
To clean out excess fuel in the cylinders, as in the case of engine flooding, no fuel is injected when the accelerator is held fully depressed while cranking the engine. "
So, 2 questions:
1) Has anyone tried this with success?
2) What exactly prevents fuel delivery while using this method; perhaps a relay of some sort?

i think that only works if its not severely flooded..not too sure....comments anyone?

I guess there is a relay or something. I think it cuts off the injectors. same as pulling the EGI fuse out. but better cause the spark plugs still fire.

yes s5 can unflood themselves, unless they r serverly flood where the spark plugs would be need to be removed,

for your 2 questions:
1. yes many times it has worked to unflood my engine
2.i don't have a clue

Thank guys! I believe my injectors are leaking and need to be sent off. I'm more inclined to take advantage of simple fixes than going to all the trouble of installing a fuel cut switch. That is, until I get them sent off for cleaning/blueprinting.
