Decent amount of Cold Cranking Amps?
 

Hey guys. I just bought a T2 that has some trouble starting. I don't think the starter is getting enough juice from the battery (cheapy batt). I'd like to replace it, but I don't know what with. I was looking at a battery with at least 600 CCA. What do you think?

Anything around 500 is plenty good.
Stock is like 300-something.

walmart has a 1000 CCA battery for $56, I believe it's an EverStart has two year free replacement with a lifetime warranty

Go for an Interstate MTP-35 with 640 CCA.

if you are planning on keeping the car anyways...

hit up walmart and buy an optima. Probably the last battery you'll buy for a looooonnnnggg time.

I dunno, I've been hearing mixed things about Optimas lately. I had Craftsman Gold series with 680 CCA, or something like that. It was 6 or 7 years old when it finely died. It was still going strong then, but a spark plug wire fell off and grounded out on the body and just totally zapped the battery. It was never the same after that.

I just bought anOptima Red Top 75/35 at Costco for $113. Has 720 CCA, my voltage gauge is now a constant 14V, as opposed to dropping to 12-13V with lights and heater on ( had an Interstate in it).

Yeah, Canadian Tire has a 900 CCA battery with a 9 year warrenty for just under 100$, I was thinking of buying that one, and then putting in an S5 alt to help charge it.

Only buy the Canadian Tire battery if you enjoy being stuck in ever 2nd parking lot. I've had 5 Canadian Tire batteries and none lasted more then a year (in multiple cars). Waste of money and time.

Don't worry about running an overly large battery. Unless you completely discharge it, then the alternator will work no harder then with a small battery.

I have had numerous batteries from Crappy T, i have the new spiral core one, paid 139 for it, needed one because, I have the battery relocated int he bin. None of these batteries have left me stranded.

Wish I was that lucky. :(

Well the new Spiral Wound one is made by some US company. So that could be why....

I just looked at my Costco Group 34 battery, and it was rated at 650CCA, so I guess 600 is not that big of a deal. :)

Most of the Group24(F) batteries I've seen are only rated at around 300-400 CCA's.
I think the Group 24F is the proper size for the FC stock location.
Since I run a relocated battery box, I run the biggest thing I can fit. :)

The Group 34 has been okay with the exception of the crappy stock FC alternator - S4.
It perked up when I put the FD alternator in, but I left the electric fan on at work one day for 8 hours, and that did it in.
I was not able to get it recharged again after that. :(
That good for 3 year full-replacement warranties!
US$40 is a good deal! :D

Exide if I recall correctly. Mainly my beef is with the standard flooded batteries. I believe they are Interstate, but Canadian Tire must get the rejects or something.

Personally I stick with Deka. Since I switched to Deka I have not had a single problem in any of my battery applications (from UPSs to my scooter to the Insight).

i got one from orielys that is 690cca and it seems to be alot better than my crapy little 550cca autozone special. The battery was a bit on the expensive side though at 8x.xx but oh well I'm just glad the autozone battery is gone.

Ive bene using a motorcraft since i got my fc's and have never had a problem yet. Its onyl died once after leaving the hatch light switched on overnight.

Im not sure about how many cca's but for the $80 i paid its served me well through both fc's.
