I am trying to take my turbo turbo apart so I can port the wastegate passage. I was following instructions and trying to seprate the exhaust housing from the turbo to perform the work on the wastegate passage. according to the instructions all you have to do is disconnect the wastegate rod and remove the 6 bolts holding the housing to the turbo. I did that but have tryed hitting on it with a rubber hammer and can not get the housing off. I'm I doing anything wrong?

try using penetrating spray on it let it sit for alittle did you get the 2 bolts that are behind the flanges i untightened them until they touched the flanges then kept undoing them and they pushed the hotside out

I used a ton of penetrating lube, and I tried using the two bolts pushing against the flange to push the housing off, but if looked like it was coming off at angle. I couldn't spin the shaft anymore so I stopped, because I don't want to damage the turbine blades

I hit mine w/ a metal hammer going around the entire housing to jar it loose. The rubber malet just wasn't doing it.

I didn't mess w/ my hotside for around 6 months and it became a biotch to remove. If you've never removed it then it will defintely be on there tight.

yea mine wasnt ever touched that i know of i hit mine with a metal hammer to it should come off if you loosen the 2 bolts going back and dforth so they dont go out uneven it worked with everyone elses turbo that i know of

I finally got the turbo apart! Using the two bolts to push it off worked. Is it unussal to see cracks in the internal runners on the exhaust side? Can you replace the seal that seals between the exhaust housing and the shaft housing?

Cracks on the dividers are normal.

Just make sure there aren't any cracks on the part which actually almost seals with the turbine. Any cracks there can heat up and expand and start eating the turbine.
