DAMN omp lines!!!!

has anyone else had an omp line just break off??? one of mine has just broken off at the omp and now i have to take the whole top 1/2 of the damn motor off just to replace one pansy ass line!!! sorry guys just had to vent a lil bit about this problem and how much bulls**t i have to go threw just to replace it

1987RX7guy 01-18-04 01:16 PM

Survey Says.........Pre-Mix. :)

It happened to me. It never will again. :)

PHATFC3S 01-18-04 01:24 PM

what does premix have to do with the omp line breaking off??? im just wondering not tryin to be a smart ass or anything. if i just start running premix can i get rid of the omp???

1987RX7guy 01-18-04 01:28 PM

Premixing is my first reason I even thought about pre-mix. If you run straight pre-mix you don't need the MOP.

Santiago

ps- linkie in the works don't run to far :-p

Mr. ImportGuy 01-18-04 01:29 PM

Yes you can run premix insted of the omp. Just dont forget to premix!

There it is. :)

PHATFC3S 01-18-04 01:34 PM

thanks for the quick help and info guys

PHATFC3S 01-18-04 01:36 PM

oh....and how do i premix it..is there a certain way/table or measurement, or a certain oil i have to use to premix. and is there a block off plate or anything that i would need to get to take the mop off??? sorry if im annoying with the questions here.

1987RX7guy 01-18-04 01:39 PM

You can buy a block off plate. I made my own for around 90 cents. I can't now make them for like 50 cents. :) You need to use TCW-III certified oil. Any brand will do really. You need to use a 128:1 ratio which is around 1 ounce to one gallon of fuel. Generally speaking you can buy the 16 oz or 32 oz bottles. You need ~16 oz to a tank when you fill up completly. I just wait untill my fuel light comes on and I pour in 16 oz's. Done. Its only an extra minute tops at the gas station.

PHATFC3S 01-18-04 01:50 PM

once again thank you for the information that i needed and helping a brotha out with my problem. now i shall commence to shearch for a blockoff plate. oh..and also what do i do about the inlets into the housings from the omp lines??? that should be the last annoying question..:)

1987RX7guy 01-18-04 01:54 PM

OK I need to clarify about my last post. It is Two Stroke TCW-III oil.

Read the thread I provided a link to you. We outlined it very well there. You can buy a block off plate at www.k2rd.com or make one yourself. It shouldn't run you more than 15-20 dollars when all is said and done. :)

Icemark 01-18-04 02:57 PM

Removing the MOP is a less than optimal solution for a busted oil line.

Just replace the line. Can you image what will happen when you go to sell the car and tell the new owner, " Oh yeah, You have to use oil in the gas tank on every fill up". He is going to look at you like you are an idiot.

Furthermore if you have a S5 and remove the MOP then you have other issues of the ECU check engine/limp mode to overcome.

And Santiago, tell them to do it the right way... not the way you think is right

BlackRx7 01-18-04 03:00 PM

you'd think a manufacturer would make racing or HD oil lines, I mean plasice lines come on.

The best thing to do would get ss braided lines....hrmmm

sorry for the thread jack

I know the guy and I am talking to him on IM's often. ;) I know he has an S5 but he has the MOP line that he broke. So I told him it will be easier to replace the line than block it all off and leave the MOP hooked in. :) And pre-mix is still a better solution for me. ;) I would never sell my car. never thats like selling my son or daughter. I guess others don't have my views.

yes santiago has already explained the whole thing and ive come to the conclusion of just goin ahead and switching the lines out instead of blockin it all off. considering i already have another line anyway

Aaron Cake 01-18-04 03:21 PM

Feel free to replace the lines with braided stainless. It won't harden and snap like the factory lines.

jaidedeye 01-18-04 03:23 PM

my vaccum lines to my omp and the oil injectors are crap..im just waiting on all my clock off plates to come in

bingoboy 01-18-04 03:27 PM

with an S5 car, you will need a standalone to run with no OMP. even when premixing, your ecu will freak out if you have no OMP hooked up and your car will fall on its face when you hit limp mode. this is because S5's have an electric OMP (stupidest mazda crap ever, well maybe not ever but yeah) while S4's have mechanical OMP's.

where would you find stainless lines for that? would you need to have them made?

PHATFC3S 01-18-04 03:33 PM

yes please tell me where to get the s/s lines so i can get rid of the crap lines that they gave me stock

Aaron Cake 01-18-04 03:45 PM

Summit Racing. Or any local speed shop. Yes, you would need to clamp the lines on to the appropriate fittings.

downwinddave 01-18-04 05:29 PM

SS lines

Who has SS lines? Braided or solid?

How about a part number and photo of yours?

BlackRx7 01-18-04 06:53 PM

You trying to take credit for my idea Aaron :D

but seriously someone should find all the sizes for the fitting and see if they can get them in bulk, shit you prolly could sell quite a bit of those....

...damn it brain, stop giving away good ideas..

jaidedeye 01-18-04 08:46 PM

on an s-5 you can remove the omp from the block and plug up all the holes for the oil injectors and vaccime lines. install the block off plate and keep the omp unit plugged in but tie it back somewhere in the engine compartment..this way you can run premix and your car wont go into limp mode

neptuneRX 01-18-04 10:15 PM

hey, where can I get some ss lines for the omp? Mine haven't died yet, but might as well replace them.

Wankel7 01-18-04 10:49 PM

Okie, chill out dude. Lets assume that your car is an 89 model. That means those plastic lines lasted about 13 years. I would say that is not to damn bad. I think stainless steel braid would be over the top. But if that is your style I would like to see it.

Just order some new ones from Mazdaformance.com.
