how much boost can an 88 t2 take and still be a reliable daily driver.. im currently thinking i should stop at 8 lbs boost.. any input would help... im trying to figure out how far i want to go with the car. thanks yaaawlss

I run about 7psi of boost on a normal day of driving. I could run 10-11psi but I disconnected by boost controller for now.

I was running 11 psi but that was when I really got on the gas, if you can control your lead foot then you are ok.

I have no boost controller

Mine is daily driver believe it or not... with 12psi on hybrid turbo... should break 300rwhp if I figure out what the problem is with the boost dropping after 5500rpm... been dynoed 285rwhp @ 10psi. It just depends on how you take care of your car... more mods don't neccesarily mean that you're car is gonna break down more often. Just make sure you always have proper tune with good, safe A/F ratio and have proper surround/reliability mods.

Let's hope more mods doesn't mean it will break quicker! I just did a damn turbo conversion :D

My car is going to be a 64 miles a day daily driver. Yes my gas budget is going to double but for the HP I am gladly willing to pay it :D

I made my swap to be mild and some what stock.

It's got a rebuilt turbo/engine and a 2.5 DP to Presilencer to 3inch CS single. I am using the S5 TID for now but will make a TID later on.

I can't wait to see what my gas mileage is :(:(

I did a lot of reliability mods though. Rebuilds and a nice big radiator with a big fuel pump and cleaned injectors.

It shoudl be problem free for a while(crosses fingers)

What boost for daily driving? How about no boost.
With a good boost gauge if you have enough patience you wont need to boost at all if you want to really save gas milage.
I used my TII last year as a daily driver and i managed to get 19mpg highway with many mods including an untunned S-AFC.
So if you want to save gas DONT boost at all.

Mine's a daily driver and I never go into boost.

No offense but why daily drive a TII if you don't want to boost? Just buy a $500 beater(cheaper insurance, too if you insure the FC as second car)!! :D I like to have fun daily ;)

Paying for college + Haltech + Insurance + huge port + 720's = too rich in boost, not enough money to get it tuned for boost, not enough time or experience to tune for boost, and the fact that even with me getting into boost twice at about .8 bar I have gone through two stock turbos. Plus it was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago but the guy who owned it then didn't replace the oil seals on the rotors, so well that's gone. So I am gladly accpeting donations if you want to help me out. But even though she smokes like a weed machine on startup and I don't get into boost, and she needs a rebuild blah blah etc. I still wouldn't have bought any other car. I love her.
