Daily Driven Suspension
Ok, I've searched and searched on the forum, but can't seem to find any decisive answers on the best way to lower a daily driven FC. Its a 91 vert, and my biggest concern is driveability. I'd like the ride to be firm, but not bouncy or too harsh. I'd love coilovers for the adjustability, but would they be too harsh for daily driving? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not only can you adjust the struts, but also change out the spring rates. |
Sounds like you dont want to mess around too much with the suspension much.....understandable.
I debated about this long ago when I stopped racing my T2. Personally, I my favorite past set up with the RB springs, lower front perches, Tok.blues, full RB sways, new factory bushings. Very confortable, very forgiving. The second set up I currently like is the AGX KYB, and the suspention Techniques lowering springs....very solid ride. $.02. |
Thanks guys...I was thinking about going with the KYB AGX's from k2rd.com (great price) along with the RB springs. What do you think of that setup? They seem to be the two companies that I keep hearing good things about, and they're not too expensive. I won't really be hitting the track too much, maybe AutoX here and there, and a couple of passes at the drag strip but nothing too serious (it is after all a N/A vert).

I have the full k2rd kit and it's a bit harsh, but handles like a dream. Oh yeah today I FINALLY got rid of my stupid ghetto neeper N-7 rims (previous owner) and got the old school Volk GR-C's put on and HOLY SHIT :eek: the ride is so much better it's amazing. Cutting out ~15 lbs of unsprung weight per corner sure helps!

Did the Eibach Pro's actually lower your car? I have read that the old stock springs sag so much that when you put the new Eibach's on it will raise the car instead of lower it. What year model did you put them on? Thanks. Ralph 86'gxl |
i just installed the eback springs along with the KYB AGX shocks the ride is actually a little nicer than the stock ride that i was getting before i didnt lower the car any noticable amount but they certainly didnt raise the car either.

Looks good, same color as mine. I have gone to 17" wheels with 215/45 bridgestones. I may need to look into a coil over spring as I would really like to get 1" lower, just worried about too harsh a ride.
I guess you had the auto adjust suspension. Is it just a matter of disconnecting the actuators and installing the KYB's? Anything else that has to be done? Thanks. |
I have the Eibachs and Tokico blues. I don't like the progressive nature of the Eibachs. IMO it makes the car too "soft" they "bite" nicely when pushed hard but in mildly agressive driving the car is not as responsive as I would like (and that's with the Polyurethane bushings in the front).

Does anyone have the Eibachs installed in a vert? I'm guessing they would make the car a little lower due to the extra weight...I'd really like to be a little lower than banzaitoyota's pics, but it needs to still ride nicely. Any suggestions?
