I was wondering if anybody took one of there cubby holes and made it into a sub box. And if they did how they did it and if it turned out nice or not. :ky:

I've heard sound quality isn't very good in the cubby hole. You can make a box there but a 10" woofer is the very maximum i think you could do in those cubby holes, just cause the amount of air space and diameter. Probably 8" tho.

Here is my box 2 12" woofers. I've heard that positioning the woofers up so hey hit the rear hatch gives good sound quality. The same idea Mazda had in mind for the stock rear speakers.

I made it out of 3/8 Acrylic.

Although I applaud the workmanship in the fact you made it yourself, I WOULD say it looks crappy, except that it's covering up maroon interior... :bigok:

bet the 3/8 acrylic flexs alot compared to 3/4 mdf bet that person that told u the woofers firing up sounds better... i bet thats his car every car sounds diffrent but for the most part look at cadalilacs or hatchbacks most of the times the speakers are facing backwards with a foot or 2 of space between the speakers and the back of the the car this is done to make the sound wave travil further making it play deeper (thats y the bigger the car or a van will pound harder then a small car and it helps make all the waves travil in one direction like corner loading a sub but the only true way to find out what sounds better is to try out diffrent postions and not by what some one tells u
