Custom hood scoop question

So I just did a turbo swap. Long story short, I cut a hole in my hood to get to the TMIC. Should I put foam around the entire hole between the hood + IC or should I leave the front of it open so the clutch fan can get air to the IC as well?

pic's?

i would put foam around the hole, or buy a TII hood...they are fairly cheap.

Seal the entire hole.

If you leave the front open, at low vehicle speeds the fan will blow hot radiator discharge air into the intercooler, and at high speed a lot of the scoop air that should go into the intercooler would end up shooting down the hole and into the engine bay where it does nothing for performance.

right, the stock TII hood has a nice thick seal that goes all the way around the TMIC, you would want to mimic that. are you going to add a scoop to the hole?

Yeah if I could have found a TII hood before this weekend, I would have gotten it. But the 4 or so that I found either won't be shipped, want waaay too much for it, or won't reply to me. So I went w the DIY.

There will be a scoop over the hole as well. The TMIC got waaayyy too hot today when I was driving it after I just cut the hole. I figure that if it has one stock then I probably need it.

I have a hole in my hood. Pounded out the top and pounded in the opening. I have the "opening" of the air hitting the intercooler. It doesn't get that hot, but pretty hot. Works well enough for me. I think I'm going to try to seal it better, or just go front mount and pound the hood reverse status.

I was looking for an sti scoop but didn't want to pay almost $100 for one.
