Custom FMIC cores?

A friend of mine is going to be building up a TurboII with all the goodies (60-1, Haltech, etc etc etc)

He is going to do a FMIC for the car...

What spearco cores (or any other cores, for that matter) are everyone using with big single turbos? **Starion cores need not apply** :)

The battery will be relocated and the car has no power steering, therefore there is plenty of room for the pipe to go straight from the IC to the throttle body...

Would like to hear some opinions on this subject.

Thanks.

Posting for a friend,

Mike

I've read that the Spearco IC core part#2-180 with the IC assembly kit part#2-235 is the largest setup you can have on a TII without having to worry about cutting stuff to fit it in. The dimensions are 23"x13"x3.5" with 2.5" inlet/outlet. I got this info from a post on this forum from a few weeks back.

YOu wouldn't happen to know what the name of that tread was called so I can search for it? :)

Thanks for the info!!!!

The best thing to do is to make yourself a cardboard mockup, and see if it fits your application, and to design the positioning of the piping. I recommend that you also look at the efficiency and pressure drop ratings of the different Spearco cores, but don't use anything larger than 3.5" thick for the street. I have a Spearco 2-248 (2-182 core) FMIC in my 20B car, and it fits just fine with the hood latch removed (hood pins required)- see my web page icon for pics (click on the RX-7 Picture Gallery bar, and then click on "Intercooler" at the bottom of the page).
