Cross drilled r0t0rs??
 

I know this should go in the wheels section but more people look in here.

Has any1 bought cross drilled rotors from ebay?? Ive seen a couple of them for like 200 bux for all 4. Are they that crappy or pretty good? Thanks

i dont see mention of any ships, and/or ROCKETS.

I had the ones from Mazdatrix on my 90' GXL and I didn't notice any diff I guess if you were on a track you would.

The bremo X drilled rotors or many rotors for that matter, aren't made x drilled... a shop drilled / machined them to become x drilled rotors...

Basically when brembo made their rotors they never had in mind to turn the basic rotors into x drilled so the alloy is weaker then their alloys used for their bigger brakes like 13" or more that are x drilled. The rotor sizes that are close or equal to OEM, brembo doesn't make x drilled from factory for them

There is virtually no performanmce difference to be gained from using cross drilled rotors unless you are on a race track. You will notice no difference on the street. Save your money for other things would be my advice.

i second that... no point unless u autoX.. all they do is dissipate heat faster...

Actually the difference between crossdrilled and non is that they are suppose to release the gas build up between the pad and the disc when it heats up however i have never seen any proof that that actaully works. I would stay with the normal and use a high qual pad and you should be fine. I autocross and i have never had problems not using cross drilled and also if you do use cross drilled for a solo race it moves your car into another class. Just my 2cents someone will probably prove me wrong.

that is only if you use "organic pads" ie race spec that run good when glowing red hot

You won't see any difference in autocross, except being bumped to a Prepared class and getting waxed by full blown race cars.

Auto-x courses are way to short for the benifits of x-drilled rotors to be seen. They aren't really needed unless you do actual track events.

I've got some brembo x drilled on my 87 TII. I'd say that for most people on the street, you don't need these. I used to drive very very hard on the street, and they do help for those times. Think of the most insane street driving you can imagine and you're in the right ballpark. Hauling along at 80 on the interstate on your way to work you won't notice these for one hard stop.

I wanted to get some new rotors for my car and I wasnt sure what to get. I was thinking of some regular brembo rotors but I dint know if it was worth the extra money to get them slotted or xdrilled. Wheres a good place to get some good regular rotors?

Cross drilled rotors are a waste of money.

slotted rotor make a big differance, here in NYS my shop does sublet work for the highway patrol and we alway put Napa top line rotor and they were eating them up in 5k so we switch to slotted napa rotors and the service life of the front brake when to 15k per car. so it is my opinion that they will make a huge differance.
