crazy high oil pressure

When i turn the key on the oil pressure goes right up to the limit. it does it even before I start the engine. It doesnt change after I turn the engine on and and slowly goes down after ignition is off for a while. I just replaced the trans and clutch. It also starts buzzing and the add coolant light comes on after running for about 10-15 seconds. Is there something i am missing or got a bad oil pump or regulator?

Thanks,
Dan Chizek

Sounds like the wire for the oil pressure sender is grounded somewhere and/or your gauge is broken. Also sounds like you have some air bubbles in your coolant system so you need to bleed the cooling system.

When you you replaced the trans/clutch, did you reconnect the condensor for the oil pressure gauge? Also, it should be connected to a ground, usually through one of the bolts of the slave cylinder

That should tell you this has nothing to do with oil pressure, and is an electrical problem. If the wire falls of the pressure sender (not uncommon) and lands on something metal, the gauge will go to full deflection. Same thing if the sender has internally shorted. Check the wire is securely connected to the sender, and if that's okay pull the sender out and check the resistance between the connection and the thread. It should be over 200 ohms.

It sounds like the capacitor wasn't reinstalled correctly.
