Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) Interchangeability
 

What CAS's will work on which cars? I have an S5 T-II running on a Power FC and my CAS went bad. I have a spare (what I think is) S4 CAS with a different connector. Will this work for me if I simply swap out the connectors?

The wire arrangement in the plugs is different (see the attached jpgs) but I'd bet money they are the same. I didn't look any further than the plugs in the diagrams. I know the series four has all four wires going to the ECU.............BUT on the series five two of the wires leaving the CAS get spliced together and that results in the ECU only seeing three instead of four wires from the CAS.

In other words one wire of each reluctor goes to gnd and since both are going to gnd why not splice them together in the harness. That's probably what the Mazda eng said to himself once upon a time long ago. Dig it?

Long story short........yeah. Depin the series five connector and put it in your series four CAS plug in the same order you have it in the series four now.
