cracked rear housing repair?

A piece of of the rear iron, that has the threaded hole that bolts up with the tranny, broke off right in the middle of that threaded hole. Is it possible to weld and fix it or should I just get a new iron?

Happens often... most people (I'm not one) just leave it and bolt up the rest of the trans mounting bolts.
