Could I use this to block off my EGR

OK I am going to take off my rats nest either today or tommorrow, and I was wondering could I use Quick Steel, rather than makeing a block off plate to plug up the EGR holes.

Youd have to use a shit load of it Id think to close that hole. Id think making a block off plate would be alot easier, and just a better way of doing that.

Ahh yeah I already made the block off plate it took me for ever to cut that thing out of 1/2 inch steel, I supose that was over kill, but I didn't have to changer the EGR stud that is there.

 1/2 inch thick

DAUM!!

Yes just a little bit of over kill, but it was a 1/2 or a 1/16, and I was afrade that the 1/16 wouldn't seal. I have steel slag all over my shirt from smoothing it with the grider after I cut it to.

I'm going to have to post some pictures of my engine now, after I took most of this crap off of it. It looks so small. :boink:

well one of he purposes of removing this stuff it to loose some weight. you should look for 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch like mine.

Cory Simpson 04-26-03 03:06 PM

Wouldn't the EGR be lighter than a 1/4 in. steel block off plate. The plate I made weighed about 2 lb. that will make about 1/10000 of a seconds difference on the track. The reason I am taking it off is so that it is easier to work on. Lighter is just an added bonus. But then again it may just make the difference.

Every ounce counts. ;)

I used 1/8 inch pretty damn light.

Well yeah I gues it does.
