Cornering Wheel Hop-- Shocks? bushings? Suggestions?
Hello all, I have an 86 GXL (LSD) with original (worn out) shocks. I am getting rear wheel hop at corner apex/exit (usually lower speeds, especially if there is some pavement imperfections).
I already know my shocks are a serious issue, and they will be addressed soon, but what I don't have experience with is whether the symptom of cornering wheel hop is a result of worn-out shocks, or if it's a sign of bushings that need replacing in the rear suspension arms, or a sign of bad differential mounts, etc. If you have experience with this, I'd love to hear it. Thanks... |
wow! I'm the only getting wheel hop in cornering? or... nobody knows what causes it?

shock's are probably your biggest issue. i had wheel hop issues when my rear shocks were beat to heck, and after replacing them with agx's haven't had any problems since.

Have you checked your fuild in your Diff. Could be that the diff is locking up and is about to go out. There is also a diff additive you can put in there to help it out.

*ahem*shameless plug*ahem* i've got a set of brand new kyb agx's for sale, 375 plus shipping, pm me if you're interested.

I had the same issue and it wound up being bad DTSS bushings. the bad bushings were allowing the tire to tow itself out around turns. buy the delrin replacement ones from mazdatrix. you will not be sorry. My car feels 100% better.

UPDATE:
I've installed Konis in the car now, and the cornering wheel hop is gone (and the car feels _much_ better all around...). I won't be getting the DTSS eliminator bushings since I want to stay eligible for E Stock. |
