As long as the welds aren't penetrating into the tube, then $139 for that part is a bargain. There is about an hours worth of welding in that piece, so when you consider the price of consumables, time, materials, etc. then the price is unbeatable.

lovemy7, what kind of mods do u have on urs? just wanting to know how much it would help mine out. hesitant about buying one. and it looks loads better than the plastic/rubber crap and will most definitely flow better too

Sorry to drag up an old thread, did anyone figure out if these were worth the money?
|
yes they are dude. i run tons of cork sport stuff and their products are quite nice.

If my stock TID isn't damaged yet, is it worth replacing with one of these?
|
Will you see a performance gain....most likely not, it does appear to be slightly larger in diameter in certain areas and it doesn't have all the nooks and crannies of the stock TID to slow down air, but I doubt the TID is the biggest restriction in your system. I have one, but then again my stock TID was cracked in multiple places. It made a noticable difference in my case and it looks nice too. (just wish they would have had the black couplers in when I ordered....oh well. It was a good investment for me, but if your stock one is fine, you might be able to find some other aspect of your car that needs more immediate attention.

I can't believe people actually spend money on this crap. What a joke of a "mod". Freaking waste of money. Why the T bolt clamps on a pipe that won't even see pressure?
Buy a U from Summit for like $30, take it to a welding shop and have them weld in the required bungs. The result will be a less restrictive TID for less than half the money. Spend the saved money on something that actually makes the engine run better. |
While the value may be questionable in the eye's of a "do it yourself'er" It cannot be argued that a non-leaking TID does not make an engine run better than a leaking one. Sometimes people just want a product that works and fixes and immediate need without the hassle of waiting for raw materials to come int he mail, then taking measurements and waiting for a welder to build it all just to say you saved a few bux.

Thanks for the info gents :)

Too bad they don't seem to produce it anymore.
Any other turbo inlet pipe people can recommend for a BNR Stage 3? |
I'll sell you mine.

true,
my local radiator shop is cheep and very good for welding aluminum parts. i will do all my fab work and just mark were i need it welded, so it lines up they way i need it to. he charges 20 -30 dollars for small jobs and its ready the same day or the next if he is busy |
MY original TID for a 1987 TII just disintegrated itself. Looking for a replacement. The Home Depot 2.5" to 3" plumbing suggestion is not attractive whatsoever. Looking at alternatives myself. Any sales?

Still have mine.
