As long as the welds aren't penetrating into the tube, then $139 for that part is a bargain. There is about an hours worth of welding in that piece, so when you consider the price of consumables, time, materials, etc. then the price is unbeatable.

Not much. Reliability mostly. Full exhaust with a FCD, Pre-Mix, emissions removed, and the corksport tubes that i ordered. R-tek will be installed soon as well as some bigger injectors. Just keeping her as a streatable DD. We'll see how well it looks when it arrives. I'll get some pictures of the welds and inside the tube when it arr, ives.

Will you see a performance gain....most likely not, it does appear to be slightly larger in diameter in certain areas and it doesn't have all the nooks and crannies of the stock TID to slow down air, but I doubt the TID is the biggest restriction in your system. I have one, but then again my stock TID was cracked in multiple places. It made a noticable difference in my case and it looks nice too. (just wish they would have had the black couplers in when I ordered....oh well. It was a good investment for me, but if your stock one is fine, you might be able to find some other aspect of your car that needs more immediate attention.

I can't believe people actually spend money on this crap. What a joke of a "mod". Freaking waste of money. Why the T bolt clamps on a pipe that won't even see pressure?
Buy a U from Summit for like $30, take it to a welding shop and have them weld in the required bungs. The result will be a less restrictive TID for less than half the money. Spend the saved money on something that actually makes the engine run better.

While the value may be questionable in the eye's of a "do it yourself'er" It cannot be argued that a non-leaking TID does not make an engine run better than a leaking one. Sometimes people just want a product that works and fixes and immediate need without the hassle of waiting for raw materials to come int he mail, then taking measurements and waiting for a welder to build it all just to say you saved a few bux.

MY original TID for a 1987 TII just disintegrated itself. Looking for a replacement. The Home Depot 2.5" to 3" plumbing suggestion is not attractive whatsoever. Looking at alternatives myself. Any sales?
