CorkSport rear strut bar, intall and pics

Finally got my corksport rear strut bar in today, after literally months of waiting. They were on backorder. Anyway, went to install it, and turns out it seemed that CS sent me two left brackets. Great start..had to re-drill proper holes in the bracket to make it fit. Cutting holes in the sides of the strut tower is a major pain in the ass. I used a combination of a holesaw drill bit on a 90* adapter, and a dremmel with a cutting wheel. Took me alot longer to install than I originally had planned, but its in. Here are some pics, let me know what you think :D

Thanks. I wont be able to comment on the handling difference though. The car currently doesnt have an engine in it, and since it has been down Ive installed all new springs/struts (Tokico), new bushings, new wheels/tires (235/40r17 front and 255/40r17 rear),this bar, and planned RB anti-sway bars. So it should be a noticable difference over stock :p:

Nice pic. I see a wg dump pipe in your trunk. Better get some videos or sound clips of that when your car is back together.

Good work, looks like a nice and neat install. I'm looking to get a rear brace very soon and was considering the cs one, apart from the two left brackets was it a good fit ?

Good Work

I have the same strut.

What are you doing for shocks? I have Koni adjustables and they're set on soft because the strut stiffens the car frame so much.

You will notice that the car is stiffer. Handling feel is definitely improved. The downside I noticed is that the hatch can tend to get "squeaky" while you're driving because more vibration is coming up through the body where the hatch weatherstripping rests. Slightly annoying, but still way worth it for the overall effect on the car.

Good luck!

For stuts I am using Tokico HPs. I had KYB 8-way adjustables and RB springs on my T2, I sold them and went with the Tockicos. IM happy with the bar, think it looks very nice. Although for $80+, it had better be :p:

Its a wastegate dump tube for a stock S5 turbo hotside. Vosko was selling it a while ago, and I then bought it off of another member that purchased it off of him. SHould help alot with boost creep, and hopefully help hold boost in higher RPMs also. PLus it will just sound like pure evil :asthanos: It isolates the wastegate from the rest of the exhaust , and just dumps it straight outside, rather than have it go back into the downpipe.

nice wastegate dump tube

Here is one I got for pretty cheap..... It made a big difference when I really put it in(in the pictures its just in place not bolted down)

Yea that looks like the CP bar. I gave that one some thought, but in the end I wanted something that physically ties both struts together. The CP bar just goes to the towers (which probably works fine..and mount a hell of alot easier :p: ) but I just wanted one that contacted each strut.

kleach18 03-29-04 04:15 PM

yeah i know the guy that had the car before put that in... The thing is he left the black carpet under it so I'm gonna pull up the red carpet the next time I have time to take everything out. It doesn't look that bad in person, it looks a darker red.....

kleach18 03-29-04 04:16 PM

Hey, but you didn't notice what it says under my radio.....

what would u people sugest in the front and back too use as struts? swaybars? im pretty much decided on tein HE coilovers heard its worth the money (though ill have too save some for awhile too) planing on doing the five lug swap and the mustang wheels cause there inexpensive wheigh a little over 16 lbs a piece 17 by 7.5 and luck pretty dang good when the mustang insignia is removed from them and replaced with a blank cover. im also looking at some roll bars. the car is going too be striped soon and i want too take care of handling first then power then some apearence stuff. it will be a daily driver but i love ruff rides and being able too feel the road. ill probaly jus swap in better pads and do steel break lines since im swapping in the five lugs but yea i want ur sugestions (if something is significantly better in design and quality i am willing too pay for it though wit my cash income take awhile :( )
