Corksport Power Series catback questions...

...has anyone ordered from Corksport, and if so, are they good (shipping wise, reliability, etc.)?

...and is I get this:

http://www.corksport.com/content/00/...ges/725499.jpg

...and attach it to this:

http://www.corksport.com/content/00/...ges/730241.jpg
(designed to replace the main cat. converter)

...will my 5th and 6th actuation ports still open on my N/A?...

TurboIIRyan 02-09-04 03:47 PM

I have it, you didn't by chance order the 80mm did you? Cuz its fucking huge. (good thing i'm turbo). As for shipping, 7 days and it was here (i live in canada), not a scratch on it, excellent service and quality. an A-1 Company.

no

I haven't ordered it...yet...

...I have an N/A and I want the actuation ports to open, with the catback and the straight pipe that they are selling...hmmm...

smerkinseven 02-09-04 04:29 PM

i was looking at it too. good price, but i'll be looking at the 80mm. how loud is it? from 1-10, 10 being the loudest? thanks

ddub 02-09-04 05:12 PM

jeez, so on the site it says "80mm (appx. 3 1/8")" and thats for turbo and n/a? isnt that big for n/a? i thought the biggest on the n/a's you were supposed to go is 2.5" but maybe im wrong

Digi7ech 02-09-04 05:26 PM

I have the original one which is 2.5 inch tapered to 3 inch.

On my NA with Bonez Superflo it was at a loudness level of about 6.5-7.5.

I could hear my car inside my stucco walled house in the back room.

I like it though. I got it in around 4 days and it I had it for about 6 months and it's still shiny.

I just got a TII motor with Racing beat Downpipe and presilencer(not cat) and am hoping it doesn't get louder than it was as an NA.

FtotheC 02-09-04 06:42 PM

hmmm

...but will it keep the 5th and 6th actuation ports rom opening?...he?...raaa...

Digi7ech 02-09-04 07:01 PM

The cat back won't. It all depends on what's before it.

That midpipe most likely won't.

You need 2-3 psi at the ports to actuate.

Your either going to have to stay with cats or get Racingbets midpipe with the air pick up. They claim it still makes them work.

FtotheC 02-09-04 07:05 PM

but will I lose power if the fifth and sixth ports don't open?...I don't get it...

ddub 02-09-04 07:05 PM

or you can tap into the ACV relief line like icemark showed me in this pic

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2638540

he said it would supply enough pressure to open the s4 aux ports and the exhaust back pressure would no longer be a factor in opening them.

yes you will lose power, top end power... its about a 25hp loss after 4000 rpms and i can verify that :D dyno'd my car with the aux ports stuck shut with a header, high flow cat and free flowing mufflers while tuning my s-afc and the best run i could get was 119 lol.... stock is 146 with a 15% drivetrain loss ur looking at 124.1 stock

FtotheC 02-09-04 07:13 PM

hmmm...nice...

FtotheC 02-09-04 07:17 PM

I mean ew...

I mean ewww...:(

ddub 02-09-04 07:18 PM

yah i know... after i get my aux ports working and make sure the tap into the acv relief line works, im going to get a midpipe for track days :D

FtotheC 02-09-04 07:20 PM

hmmm...have you tried that tapping thing icebeam showed you?...it looks like it should work...

...and is that big black hose the ACV relief line?...because I broke the end portion of it (the little black cone thingy at the end, by the fender) from a battle with a fence...

ddub 02-09-04 07:24 PM

i have already rerouted mine into the acv relief line, but my aux ports are stuck shut and need to be cleaned, so i have no proof it works (yet) but icemark said it would and he's a smart guy i trust him ;D

the big black hose that the small blue one is going into is the acv relief line

dreamnshadow 02-09-04 07:29 PM

wait, so what other sizes are there besides the 80mm? and is it 80mm at the tip?

FtotheC 02-09-04 07:32 PM

any chance on instructions for the tapping?...

...I'm think mine work; I can notice a difference in the
power right after 3500 RPMs...it's just like popping VTEC:)...hehe, just kidding, I kid, I kid...

...I'll probably just try it and learn...

Digi7ech 02-09-04 07:42 PM

Actually it is like Vtec. It's just that Mazda had a whole list of things that mattered to point out and use as a marketing ploy.

Like it's not a Honda or FWD.

vrooom305 02-09-04 08:09 PM

I just ordered that yesterday Sun. Feb. 08. and I just called them today.

THEY'RE SOLD OUT!

The sales rep said they aren't getting another shipping until the end of the month.

So now I have to wait....I hate waiting....

anyone know of other places that sell single catback systems for NA S4's at around the same price range? I've checked mazdatrix and the rx7store...Neither have anything that I can afford of like.

ive done it, its pretty basic... here are some basic instructions for you, if you have more questions you can PM or email me

go to an auto parts store and buy a vacuum hose adapter, i used a 3/8" to 3/8" but get whatever you can find/prefer. the hose that draws the pressure to open the ports will need a 3/8" but you can get some other size to tap into the line, whatever you want. get a drill and drill bit, the bit should be smaller than the part that will be going in the hole so it's tight. example, i used the 3/8" to 3/8" adapter and then used a drill bit that is 2 sizes smaller to drill into the hose and jammed that thing in as best i could (it was hard but i got it in there :D ) and then make sure you clamp the hose nice and tight onto the adapter... there ya go :p:

smerkinseven 02-09-04 08:57 PM
