corksport h4 headlight kit?

anyone use it? is it any good? it's only like 60 bucks...

h4's are xenon hid bulbs, rite...?

I think H4 is just a headlight size. It's not an HID designator. There are halogen H4s.

oh well phbbblllllttttt

are h4's any good? i mean, i can get h4 xenon hid bulbs... but would they burn out the housing or somethin?

the h4's in that kit are not HID they are a popular size of non-sealed headlights. like those found in newer cars without square headlights, the benefit would be that you can get a clearer housing for the light with newer technology in the bulb for a brighter and better pattern. i think they are also cheaper to replace.

all that being said, i have not tried them.

i'm not sure what HID's would do with out those ballast packs that come with the kits, but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be good.

H4s are really nice, cause you can just replace the bulb, you don't have to re aim the headlight, it takes *maybe* 5 minutes to change a bulb. Additionally you can choose from really any bulb you could ever want, everyone makes H4 bulbs. Hella, PIAA, really any after market lightbulb maker will have them, and in any wattage you want. PIAA Extreme white bulbs look so good and illuminate far better than your stockers ever could. Seriously do it, you'll wonder how you ever got by without them.

:edit: H4 is not, not, not, not, not HID

Although, you can buy H4 sized HID bulbs and balast and put them in the H4 housings, so in that way you could be talking about HIDs, but H4s themselves are NOT HIDs

just a q, greg... how much are the piaa bulbs?

Simplecat 08-11-03 10:32 AM

Ummm... I bought mine when they first came out (about a year and a half ago) and they were like 75 bucks, I've been out of the country since then, but I bet they're the same or maybe cheaper if they've come up with something better. You can get high wattage blue bulbs from someplace like napa for like 20 bucks, but you'll replace them about every 6 months, my H3 fog lights were PIAAs have lasted 3 years and are still bright as hell.

I've blown two bulbs in the past year. One of the glass housings cracked too. I guess a rock or something hit it.

I just bought a pair of crystal cut h4 headlight housings on ebay and will probably be buying Hella H4 bulbs or the sylvania silverstar bulbs. I'll post my results when I am down with the swap. Might be in a week or 2 though.
