cooling problem
 

so i searched the forums and couldnt find what i was looking for. i swapped in a different radiator yesterday and now my 87 n/a is overheating. i think its some air bubbles in the system. any ideas? also the old system didnt use the coolant reservoir (previous owner). where does the return line go? pics would be helpful? thank you for the help =)

the old cooling system didnt over heat the car even though the old radiator was leaking. and i replaced the thermostat aswell and new hoses

You swapped a radiator? did you put an s4 or s5 radiator? there should be a return line to the coolant reservoir on the radiator, if not, then there should be one on the filler cap on the thermostat housing. did you flush the radiator before you put it in? what is the coolant mix you are using?

the rad. came out of my 88 gxl parts car so it should be an s4. i did flush everything and still getting air bubbles out. 50/50 mix of antifreeze. and i have a hose going from the thermostat housing to the reservoir. and then the line that goes out of the reservoir goes where?

the line coming out of the reservoir bottle should point to the ground in case it boils over. If you are still getting bubbles..take the cap of and start the car, try running the heater on full blast. are you opening the vent by the top radiator hose? And hate to tell you if you are still getting bubbles then you might need to rebuild your engine. (happened to me)

yeah I finally figured out the coolant reservoir thing. I had the cap swiched around also. and i think i finally got everything out. so far after posting this thread and playing with the car its finally sitting at the normal temp. and I did discover the bleeder on rad. by the upper hose. It still gets a lil hot when its hot outside though. and I dont have a heater in the car. the guy i got the car from gutted everything =/
