coolant temp sensor wire?

well put my harness back on today. and noticed theres no wire to be found to go to the coolant temp sensor on top of the water neck. does anyone happen to know what color the wire is so i can look for it at the harness? thanks in advance.. jr

Mine is black.

Green/Black

cool, thanks hopefully i'll be able to locate it. if all else fails i can always rewire it to the ecu side. i think

hailers could you tell me if this is it. its located about 2 inches behind the secondary injector wires... its green with a black stripe.

sucky pic sorry

the one that looks like its under the fpr.

that harness is supposed to run by the coolant filler neck....

far as i remember the green wire was for the coolant temp switch, the switch is just for A/C cooling fan operation anyways so if your A/C is non operational i wouldn't even worry about it.

On the top of the housing is a water temerature Switch. A single wire connector. The color is green/black. It turns on/off the auxillary fan in front of the radiator if the car came equipped with a aux fan.

There is a water thermo sensor on the Back of the water pump housing that has two wires. One green/white and the other brown/black (possibly pure black on a 88).

So if you see a single wire with connector and the colors are green/black, you know what it is.

but obviously they won't reach since the harness is routed incorrectly ;)

lol. i was trying to run it like that so you dont see soo much of it. it reaches everything fine. but i dont have ac or the little fan anymore so i dont have to worry about it i guess.

so with this wire unpluged because it broke on mines off the sensor itself....everything will be ok right i could still read my temp inside becaause of the sensor under the alt...oh i dont have nothing a/c/heater related so does it matter that ,that one wire isnt plugged..

ouch hope you dont have an electrical fire, I thought the water temp sensor was over by the oil pressure sensor by the oil filler neck.

That's for the temp gauge.

I'm confused on which wire. Green/Black sinle wire is only a/c related on the whole.

The one under the alt on the back of the water pump housing is for the ECU and is called a water thermo sensor and is NEEDED by the ECU. Actually two wires on that one. One green/white and the other black or maybe brown/black

Mine was black also, just ground it out when you replace your rad to keep the 8 cyl cool, unless you like that buzzing noise.

and for good measure i did end up re running the harness the right way
