Coolant problems

Okay so heres the deal. for some reason after running my car for a while then shutting it off my radiator seems to have a huge amount of pressure and spit coolant out my over flow. what causes this? my thermostat on the hud doesnt read that i am over heating. Would it be my water pump, radiator, seal? My water pump was replaced in may, but im not sure if it was used or new.

thanks for all your help.

Sounds like the rad cap isn't venting properly. Try a new one.

[edit] Thought about this some more and  . It may also be a blown coolant seal inside the engine. Easiest way to check on that is to crank the engine with the rad cap off. If coolant gushes/spews/pushes out then that's the problem.

what type of cooling system do you have? is an on fan clutch oem type or do you have an E fan? do you have an oem thermostat?

To test if it's you coolant seals you really need to bleed/burp the system and then see if coolant is pushed out.

i know of an rx7 at the junk yard shits mint 89xxx miles 13b na, think i should take the rad cap from there and the motor?

OK man i would first check see if you got old ratiator coolant (looks all rusted orange color)., then check if your water pump is slippinp. and go from there... start with the easy shit then go to the heavier stuff...
