coolant overflow line clogged.
 

I opened up my rad cap today before the engine had cooled down enough and it blew a bit of coolant out under quite a bit of force.

I checked the overflow tank and it's very full like almost to the top but then i checked the hose that runs to it and I couldn't blow through it, so i took a wire and ran it through the hose and a whole bunch of brown sludgy crap came out the end of the tube.

The coolant in the rad and in the overflow tank are both clear and green but this stuff is nasty.

My questions are:

Could this have damaged the engine or is it a sign of some bigger problem?

Should i pour out the coolant from the overflow tank till it sits at the "full" line?

is there a how to with pics for flushing the cooling system?


Also i noticed that the hose coming from the back side of the intercooler that goes to the TB did not have a hose clamp on it and was a little pushed down the tube it atatches to... would this cause a boost leak or would that not cause a problem?

No damage to the engine but I would replace the overflow hose with a new one asap.

I would lower the level in the Overflow bottle as well.

Don't know about a How To on flushing the coolant system.
