coolant leak

i just put a new radiator in my car and i drove maybe 50 miles and now coolant is leaking somewhere around the transmission and the oil pan. any ideas on what might cause this?

Check your heater hoses. Their should be one in the rear driver side of the engine. The other will come out of the firewall on the passenger side.

i checked and thats not it

"somewhere around the transmission and oil pan" isn't really helpful. try drying off the block to get a better idea of where the leak is coming from. is your car s4? s5? NA? turbo? these would also help.

could be the heat hose from heater core to rear iron.
but like 87 t-66 said clean it up first

the coolant is puddling on top of the intake manifold. it doesnt look like its coming from a heater hose where else could it be coming from?

Check ur bac valve. it has coolant running through it. id give u more detail but im at work

also check the line coming from the rear housing and/or the line coming from the rear of the water pump

there is a small hose that hooks to the throttle body.Behind the Throttle body itself, and it is around the general vicinity in which you are talking about...it is about the Size of an average finger.

do i have to remove the extension manifold to replace that hose?

btbaus 11-21-08 12:19 AM

no u do not. just look at the back of your throttle body. youll see a rubber hose that travels to your bac valve. on the other end of the bac valve is another hose that goes to the back of you water pump.
you bac valve is near your intake manifold so this may be the reason why your seeing coolant in that area.

the hose in blue goes to the back of the throttle body and the hose in red
goes to the back of the water pump. dont mind all that rust. ive cleaned it up and replaced the hoses.

its leaking coolant thats puddling on top of my motor and running down the side of the transmission. is there any way to change this hose without removing the throttle body and intake manifold?

thank you
