coolant gauge not working. :\
Hello all. I just repaired a car, that had a standalone installed in it. I took the engine out that had the standalone, and replaced it with a NA-T engine, with stock ECU. (so I took the standalone out, microtech btw) Everything is almost working, and for the first time in my FC career, I have a working oil pressure gauge!!! BUT my coolant gauge is not working. I have the yellow white wire plugged into the coolant sender under the oil pedestal but no go. I am guessing the person that had the car before me did something to cause this.
Any recommendations? Can I just run a wire from the sender to the gauge or does the ECU need to have this information also? Thanks ~Tweak :) |
nevermind, figured it out. The yellow white wire by the ECU was cut, and I soldered it back, but it doesn't seem to be working. I think the wire is damaged. I am going to replace the wire a little further up the line and see if that helps. Im pretty sure it will.

The ECU gets it's info about the water temps from the water thermosensor off the back of the water pump; the guage gets it's info from a sensor in the rear iron. The guage and it's sensor are completely independant from the ECU.
