coolant buzzer on
 

I did a coolant change and other fluids (differntial, brake, etc). Then I left the car for a while, and when i went to turn it on, it turned on, and a second later the coolant light came on and it started buzzing. I turned it off, then on again -- same thing happened a minute after i turned it on. Then I turned it off again. Checked the coolant level and it was full. So I turned it on again, and drove it around; this time the coolant light took a little while to come on, maybe like 2 minutes, after it came on for about another minute it turned off again, i drove it for a couple blocks and it went on and off a couple times. Any ideas? Seems to me a sensor is whacked or something.

Sounds like you got air bubbles in the coolant. Happens every time I flush the system. Just keep topping it off and it should be fine in a couple days.

Oh yeah, it is really annoying. Can you top the coolant off after it has run awhile? Last time I flushed the coolant it would come on when I turned sharp. As long as you didn't do anything strange to your car that you are not mentioning I would bet it is air bubbles.

hmmm, well someone else actually did all of the fluid changes for me, at his garage cause he's got a lift and everything, but I didn't have time to pick up my car, so he left it right outside his place, and i picked it up later, and when i turned it on, it did that.

So if he did anything wierd then I wouldn't knowassume he knew

Just top your coolant off over the next few days and you will be fine. Never do it when the car is warm though.

It might not have happened the first time the guy started the car. There is a bleeder screw on the side of the radiator right next to where the upper hose connects. Its a black plastic screw with a phillips head design. Open that while you add fluid. When fluid comes out, close it and run the motor. Then do it again a couple times until you get all the air out. The sensor on the top center of the radiator needs to stay wet or it will set off the light and buzzer. If you unplug the sensor and take the wire that comes from the car's harness and ground it to the chassis, the light and buzzer will never come up, but you won't ever get a low coolant indication.

what happens if i keep driving it, will it get rid of the bubbles automatically if I just keep driving it? If so, I could just unplug the sensor, and drive it around for a while then plug it back in later when I think it's ok, right?

if u do keep driving with the buzzer on, make sure ur temp gage doesn't go up. I had the same problem with urs and i ignored it like a noob. So the temp gage blew straight up to the top and i split my coolant line in half spilling coolant all over the place. 170 cdn to fix. But yeah that buzzer is so annoying, i wish i had that as my alarm clock.
