Convertible Speakers
So does anyone have any opinions on these? Or know of any other brands that make these sized speakers.

http://www.3rdstrategy.com/RX7.htm This all being said, I find it pretty bizarre that the only install they show on the web site consists of a headrest sliced open and stuck back together with electrical tape. Pretty bizarre. |
yeah the installation does look odd, and this is the first I have seen for actual oem replacements for them,

This doesn't mean the product is bad, maybe it is just new. This is not the first. There has been an OEM replacement speaker floating around with similar claims. I do not remember the brand. Actual users have not been impressed. The most interesting thing about this speaker is that it is 8 ohms. This means you can use it with an aftermarket head unit using the internal amp and fader without worrying about the 2 ohm load presented. :) The downside of this is that with an oem system, these speakers will only sound about half as loud. :( |
Well Jack I think I remember you upgrading your headrests. What did you use and do? I had been looking for 3 inch speakers but now I don't know.. I don't believe my headrests are blown I was just wanting to know if I can upgrade them.

the price really isn't too bad for a plug and play device, but I have been holding off until I reupholster my seats because I don't know or haven't seen any other way to do besides having to tear up the headrests, unless I'm mistaken.

3.5" speakers fit fine. A friend of mine did it a while ago. There is a writeup on it. |
