contemplating selling 10th AE
 

so I have a 10th AE. short story is my parents bought it new and I have had it for a few years. however I moved to minnesota a few years ago and until I get a garage built to keep it in I won't bring it up here. it is currently stored inside and is fine staying that way. the car has roughly 60k miles on it. I don't know that I will get to enjoy the car anytime soon, so I have been thinking about selling it to someone who will appreciate what it is. how is the current market for these? With these cars becoming more and more rare, and the fact cars today are getting ridiculously expensive, not to mention almost impossible to work on anymore, keep it. They're only going to go up in value and you have one of the rare ones. You could definitely get 8-10k easy, that car looks like its in very good condition, much nicer than mine and I paid 5k for it.

I'd keep it garaged with a cover, take it out and open 'er up a couple times a month, then bring it home when your ready. The 10th AE in that video is just amazing. I too would keep your car, but ultimately it's your decision. They are not going to be easier to find down the road.

Depends how much you like driving it.

The collector market is clueing in to these cars. The nicest ones are in the 15k range.

It has and will appreciate, but probably not fast enough to pay for its own storage, maintenance, and insurance. Still, it's a cost effective "specialty" car. Where else are you going to find something like it?

Here's one data point for you... A 32K mile 10th AE that sold last month on BaT auction for $13,700. So the values on RX7's in general are trending upwards.

In all honesty its a rare car worth a fair amount of money if left in its original condition. To get top dollar for the car you will want to install the side moldings and the 10AE fender badges and ensure its in perfectly good running and driving condition. Should fetch 8k without an issue.

On the flip side, you may find once you sell the car that you miss it dearly. Finding it again or another in similar condition will not only be exhausting but expensive. I sold the last 10AE that I restored and the regret set in shortly thereafter and it took me 5 years to find another 10AE that was reasonably priced and somewhat close by. The car I bought is another restoration project. But that doesn't matter to me. that's half the fun. Be sure to register the VIN in our 10AE registry at the top of the 2nd Gen tech section. I have been keeping track of all of the 10AE's for the last 12 years and finding another is always a great thing.
