compression question
 

I checked the compression of my 88 t2 the other day and I got 90 on the front and only like 30-35 on the rear. So what do you guys think, a rebuild, or is there something I can do about it? Also whats the best way to go, a rebuilt core, japan motor, or rebuild it my self if not to hard? thanks

Thats bad...Mine has 0psi front and 80psi in the back...It doesnt run either...I found turbo complete swaps for around $1400 or you may be able to find one at a junkyard...Im gonna try and find someone that has a 13b for sale and swap it in...I think theyre about 5-800 here...

See mine still runs, it runs just fine, other than flooding sometimes. Is that $1400 for a rebuilt motor becuase I found japanese turbo 2 motors for about $1000 shipped.

You can try to soak it in trans fluid and pray for a seal that's carboned up and stuck. But you're most likely looking at a new motor.

ATF only further deteriorates the seal, the innerds of a rotary aernt made to the same specs as innerds of a Auto tranny

The oil control seals maybe. But the idea of ATF is to break up the carbon that can lock up an apex or side seal. I've seen it used to loosen stuck seals in non-running motors turning them back in to daily drivers. This motor is toast anyway. It's worth a shot.

I bought my motor for 1100 had good compression, but I rebuilt it anyways...
